Chapter Meeting at Annual Conference in NYC

For those attending the annual conference in NYC next month, please mark your calendars for a Northern California chapter meeting!

We currently have a chapter meeting scheduled jointly with Southern California on Monday, February 26th from 8:00am - 9:00am at the Hilton in Murray Hill East.

Please email Abby Dansiger, ARLIS/NA-NC Chair, at adansiger@famsf.org if there are any items that you would like to discuss as a group, and of course please feel free to reach out with any questions or suggestions for future meetings and events.

New ARLIS/NA-NC Chapter Officers!

Congratulations and welcome to our newly appointed chapter officers, Kathryn Wayne, Vice Chair/Chair Elect, and Kay Teel, Secretary/Treasurer!

Kathryn and Kay have both served in their positions previously, and their continued dedication and support for our chapter is very much appreciated.

We are all looking forward to a great year!

Call for Nominations: Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect & Secretary/Treasurer

The ARLIS/NA Northern California (ARLIS/NA-NC) Nominating Committee is currently seeking nominees for the position of Vice-Chair/Chair Elect and Secretary/Treasurer. The Vice-Chair/Chair Elect position will commence as Vice-Chair on January 1, 2018 and assume the Chair position on January 1, 2019. The Secretary/Treasurer position will commence on January 1, 2018 for two years. 

Anyone interested in serving can self-nominate by sending the Committee a brief statement of interest and a short biography describing your professional qualifications or a current resume/CV. You may also submit the name of an ARLIS/NA-NC colleague to the Nominating Committee. 

According to the chapter bylaws, the Vice-Chair/Chair Elect is responsible for carrying out the following duties

The Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect (2 year appointment: 1 year as Vice-Chair, 1 year as Chair) shall act as executive officer in the event the Chair is unable to serve; shall act as the program chair; shall assist in the planning of the activities of the Chapter; and shall draft and send out the Chapter's annual report.

According to the chapter bylaws, the Secretary/Treasurer is responsible for carrying out the following duties:

Secretary/Treasurer (2 year appointment) shall be responsible for: a. the announcements of meetings; b. the keeping of minutes of the meetings of the Chapter; c. the handling of all financial accounts of the Chapter; d. sending reports of meetings of the Chapter to the Chapters Liaison within thirty (30) days of the meeting.

Serving as a chapter officer has many benefits, including gaining valuable leadership experience and ensuring that the ARLIS/NA-NC Chapter meets the needs of our local network of art information professionals. Please consider contributing to our chapter as a member of the Executive Board!

ARLIS/NA Northern CA Fall 2017 Meeting at Stanford University

Please mark your calendars for the next ARLIS/NA Northern California chapter meeting taking place on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Stanford University’s Bowes Art & Architecture Library.

Ike’s Place, McMurtry Building; Bytes Cafe, 350 Serra Mall; Bio X Cafeteria)

·         1:00-2:00PM Scheduled visit to the Rumsey Map Center

·         2:00-5:00PM Self-guided visits to Anderson Collection; Cantor Arts Center; Stanford Art Gallery, Lasting Impressions of Pedro de Lemos: The Centennial Exhibition; and Coulter Art Gallery, McMurtry Building, InTransit: 4th Annual Undergraduate Juried Exhibition
